Caring For a Sick Kid
Posted in Your Family, Your Health on 11. Sep, 2009
Before now, caring for my kids when they are sick has been pretty straightforward. Colds, stomach bugs, and even some more interesting illnesses have cycled throughout our family. My older daughter had croup last fall – no fun at all! Then I caught it, and it turned into laryngitis. My kids loved that I had no voice for five days – it was like a prison riot around here.
Up until recently, I have had no reason at all to doubt the sincerity of either kid when they say that their tummies hurt. Now that they are getting older, I have to watch it a little bit more! Suddenly my preschooler doesn’t feel when it’s time to pick up the playroom. And wouldn’t you know it? Her little sister gets “sick” whenever she has to clean up, too!
Whether or not my kids are sick for real, I still get to work and try to determine (a) if it’s the real deal, (b) what’s wrong, and (c) what to do for them. Although we have a bin stocked of children’s’ medications, movies and blankets ready, and the number for their pediatrician posted in the kitchen, I still enjoy reading refreshers and input from professionals on caring for your children when they are under the weather.
The article below is interesting because it is gives helpful advice from two doctors on determining how sick your child is, what to do when they are ill, and whether or not you have a Ferris Bueller on your hands.

This website is awesome. You should get it into the hands of all mothers. I am giving it to our preschool director to publish in our church newsletter.
