The Time Out Spot

Does your kid stay in time out when you put them there? Our two year old daughter was having major issues with staying put. It was becoming really frustrating. We have a spot on the floor set aside for time-outs, and she always sits in the same place. Well, in theory. The trouble was, she would find ways to scoot a couple feet out of time out, into the next room, or she would just get up and walk away like nothing happened. I started thinking about this, and wondered if she needed a firmer boundary to understand what we were doing.

I went online and ordered “The Time Out Spot,” which sounded like a great idea. I was a bit unsure, thinking that perhaps she would ignore the rug and go ahead and bolt like any other time. She tried it once, but we put her right back in time out and explained to stay on the rug. After that, she understood. Now when we say “Go to time out,” she goes right to her rug and stays there until we tell her otherwise.

I wanted to pass this on to you, in case you were having similar issues. Time outs have become much more successful since we purchased this rug, since our daughter understands that she needs to stay put in her time out spot.

I’ve included the link below in case you are interested in purchasing one for yourself.
