Save Time When You are Cleaning

It drives me nuts when I realize that I’ve forgotten to rinse out the dishes from the kids’ oatmeal. I know that if I had taken just a few seconds to let them soak, I could easily rinse them off and put them in the dishwasher. Instead, I spend extra time scrubbing them off before I load them. And what about when my two year old makes a mess under her highchair? How much extra time do I spend vacuuming and sweeping after we walk in her crumbs and track them around the house? Why didn’t I just sweep it up right away before the mess spread?

These little things add up. I’ve always suspected it, but my suspicions are confirmed by a post from Simple Mom that I read today. She raises a very good point – if we clean things up right away, we save ourselves a lot of time. With a list of plenty other (more important) things to get done in my day, cleaning messes that are easily prevented is the last thing I want to be doing.

Check out her post and see what little things you could be doing to save yourself some time.
